Well.... I'm still experimenting with encaustics, I love how I can scrape back the layers of the paintings. and show the history, I love the translucent quality. There is so much I still need to learn. Theses three seem to be working, they will be going to the Wild Salamander Gallery in Hollis this Summer. and maybe one will stay with me to make its rounds at Art Fairs.
A friend of mine is laid up with back issues right now, I've been sending her pictures asking what she thinks of different paintings. She's a captive audience right now, not being able to get around too much. I finally called her out and emailed her "I think you have Purple Issues..." Any painting I show her with a slight peak of purple she will politely saw I'm not enjoying the purple on this one. Every one. So I called her on it.
She politely emailed me back, No No indeed Purple is one of my favorite colors. So she doesn't like purple in MY paintings. Oh well whatcha going to do. This is the first one of mine she ever like with a bit of that color in it.
Call the Midwife, ended it's season last night. Words are difficult for me I say one thing I usually always mean something else. I phrase things badly. But I remember lines that stand out from books, tv shows or movies. Last nights episode showed Chummy's mother die of cancer. "Dates, after all, are only scratchings on a stone" - Sister Monica Joan, was perfect it says it all.
This is Gonz's favorite place, he switches from facing the back to front constantly. He usually is buckled in the back seat (true story) but the car was full. He got what he thinks is the best seat in the car. We were on our way to Beaver Brook in Hollis NH, There are many streams to wade in , drink from , pee in. He had a joyous walk.
Yesterday we were in Andover for a show lots of cute, nice, well behaved dogs. one dog even begged me to pick him up and cuddle him a little Pomerania he was so cute. The rain held off after a morning shower. My dad is up from Maryland visiting, I have pictures of him in different places at the show asleep. He slept on a chair in front of the tent, behind the tent in a chair, the best though was when we checked on him and he made himself a napping spot behind our tent on the ground using our sweatshirts as blankets and pillows. Oh my goodness.
Thanks to the Bruins win over Montreal of 4/2 and a stop at our favorite Vietnamese place Pho88 on Drumhill road we ended up with a nice day.
The perfect Mothers Day for me would be to stay home all day with the only chore being to finally bring up the porch furniture from the basement and take Gonzo for a nice long walk that involves him finding a place to swim. Sitting all day is very exhausted Friday night Sam had relay at the high school and that was a crazy day/night .. A day with nothing to do, no place to be sounds perfect.
Except (you'll love this) the son might, just might come home for dinner tonight at 6;30 with three friends of his, for dinner. They are heading to Arcadia for a week of rock climbing before he heads out to Microsoft for the summer.
I said to Peter ya know there Sunday is Mothers Day.."but Ma I thought you'd like cooking for me and my friends "
Hmmm for the first time I did not go to a show. The weather was calling for afternoon storms , with hail and wind. At 6 am I woke the sun was shinning. and I did not get up, I slept till 7:45 It was great. Husband tilled the garden, cut down the ornamental grass in the flower gardens, hooked up the pond pump., I cleaned out some gardens, cleaned the chicken coop. cleaned out the car, sweeped the garage. It was a very productive day.
I know I should feel bad for not going. But there were people there to take my place my spot was not left empty another artist got it.
A day of completing home chores I feel so de stressed. The plain is to work an hour a day in a garden for the next week and the outside work should be all caught up-until we get mulch. Last week Sam and I started the house Spring cleaning. Cleaning the house, de cluttering, painting the molding It brings a calmness and peace of mind. If only the house stayed this way. One hour of Gonzo and I need to vacuum again.
