Anyway I'm going to try to do more than get through the Holiday's . I'm going to enjoy them, for the first time this year I'm going to decorate the house a bit. I found myself missing it this fall, I had no pumpkins on my front porch no pumpkins above our front door no little fake crows above the entry way door. There were no wind chimes this summer chiming on the front porch or the back deck the pond had no waterfall ( the ducks missed that) I never hooked up the water fountain in the front of the house, ( yes we take our garden water features seriously here) no spring flowers. The money I spent buying Gerber Daises that one day , would have been best spent else where they never got watered and eventually turned brown. We muddled through.
I was so dreading the Holidays this year. But I'm not going to anymore. Mom would not have wanted that. So this is where we are today. Sam has started listening to Christmas tunes already. We've got bake sales to bake for, art shows to get to. Time to get to it. And ENJOY it ! Last week my Aunt Phyllis sent me my grand moms recipe for her fruitcake, and a few of the ingredients my mom loved it. It's made and sitting in the fridge waiting to further soaked with rum. p.s. Rum, Bailey's Kahlua, Vodka All help to get through the Holiday.
**** Pictured above my new Winter Birch watercolor, it's still in need of a name. It's in celebration of the first snow.of the season. I started this painting a few months ago, I tucked it away feeling lost in it. I looked at it last night and I new exactly how I wanted to finish it so it got finished while I was making Risotto last night. May it snow from December 16 - February 28. Than magically disappear the first day of March.*****
